How to do Salt Therapy?
Our blood is a 1 percent salt solution, which is equal to the salt concentration of the oceans. When you keep your insides well balanced with unrefined salt, you will be able to attain great health. I believe everyone will benefit from my salt therapy regimen. It entails ingesting unrefined natural salt daily, a monthly salt bath or daily foot soaks, upper respiratory cleansing, and installing salt lamps inside the home. More details about my salt regimen are described below:
1. Unrefined salt needs to be ingested daily. For every quart of water you drink, you should have ¼ tablespoon of unrefined salt. I usually recommend that my patients to take one tablespoon of unrefined salt first thing in the morning when they wake up. Some people can’t tolerate this at first, so I have them start with a smaller amount and work up to one tablespoon. The dose is very salty and difficult to ingest for me too, so I take encapsulated unrefined salt. In pill form, you can’t taste the saltiness.
2. Taking a salt bath is a powerful way to detoxify. In fact, 30 minutes of a salt bath is equivalent to three days of fasting, in terms of detoxification. Minerals from the salt are absorbed through the skin, and toxins are released into the bath water through osmosis. The most effective time to bathe with salt is during a full moon. The powerful tide of the moon enhances the whole detoxification process.
If you’d prefer, you can soak your feet daily instead of taking a full bath. Add 2 tables spoons of natural salt for each quart of warm water. Soak your feet for 15 minutes. This will help eliminate athlete’s foot in one month and fungal nails in about 3 months. I am currently conducting a clinical trial using salt therapy for fungal nail condition with seminar participants. For the past 18 years, I have been extremely frustrated with the lack of improvement of fungal nail conditions using current medical treatments. Soaking should also help warts and insect bites as well.UPPER RESPIRATORY SALT CLEANSING is an extremely effective way to fight upper respiratory diseases such as the flue, sinus infection, hay fever, sore throat, runny nose, allergic eye infection, bronchitis, and asthma. Since so many people suffer from the flu every year, the flu vaccinations are toxic and ineffective in many cases, I recommend sinus flushes during the flu season to combat and prevent the flu.
For sinus flush, use one half cup of warm water and add one half teaspoon of natural salt. Tilt your head back. Use the right thumb to close your right nostril and pour a small amount of the salt water slowly into your left nostril. Suck it into your left nostril and spit out through your mouth. Reverse this process for your other nostril. Repeat this process several times in each nostril. Repeat this one to two times a day. You might want to use an eye dropper to make it easier to insert the water. This process will eliminate any symptoms of the flu and may prevent you from getting the flue. Try this when you travel and are not able to rest.
For sore throat, gargle with warm salt water daily. I also recommend using eye wash daily during the flue season or when you have an eye infection. You can use an eye wash cup or small shot glass to wash your eyes. For more serious conditions such as bronchitis and asthma, I recommend salt inhalation treatment. Bring salt water to a boil, cool until you can inhale the fumes without burning your nostrils. Do this treatment daily for 10– to 15 minutes.
3. Salt lamps are powerful ways to detoxify the inside of your homes. You should do all you can to cleanse your home’s interior. Average Americans spend 65 to 90 percent of their lives indoors, and inside environments are five times more polluted than outdoor ones! Salt lamps emit negatively charged ions to decrease indoor pollutants such as bacteria, fungi, pollen, dust mites, animal dander, and mold. They are natural
TVs and computers produce an electromagnetic frequency of around 100 to 160 hertz. Our brain waves vibrate at around 8 hertz. That means our bodies are regularly exposed to frequencies that vibrate 20 times faster than our brains! This can lead to a lack of concentration, nervousness, insomnia, and cancer. Salt lamps’ negatively charged ions bind to excessive positive ions to neutralize these electromagnetic pollutions. When the light is turned on, it travels through the salt to create positive energy and attract humidity to act as a natural humidifier. There will be more information on salt therapy in my upcoming book, 9 Secrets of Salt –Unlocking the Healing Power of Natural Salt. In the book, we will go beyond the physical benefits of salt, exploring the emotional and spiritual aspects inherent in becoming the salt of the earth.

A Low Salt diet is dangerous
Two of the biggest health myths of all time are about salt. These myths are that salt is bad for you and that it causes hypertension. Both are not true! Only refined salt is bad. In fact, many studies prove that a low-salt diet actually increases hypertension. In 1984, the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES) revealed that a pattern of low mineral intake, specifically magnesium, potassium and calcium was directly associated with hypertension. Over the past 20 years, repeated measurements have confirmed the relationship between low mineral intake and elevated blood pressure.
Refined artificial salt primarily contains sodium and chloride. Unrefined natural salt has a wide range of minerals including potassium and magnesium. Magnesium is nature’s relaxation mineral. It relaxes the smooth muscles of the blood vessels to decrease blood pressure. Potassium from the natural salt moves into the cells and draws extra-cellular fluid out. This lowers the blood volume outside the cells hence the blood pressure. This is the process that occurs when natural salt lowers blood pressure. In addition, a low-salt diet causes higher total cholesterol and lousy LDL cholesterol levels. It also increases adrenal hormones such as aldosterone, rennin, angiotensinm, and noradrenaline to cause heart attacks. Insulin levels are increased with refined salt as well, bringing about diabetes, obesity, and polycystic ovary syndrome.
When you lack unrefined salt, you can accumulate too many toxic elements in your system, leading to delirium, psychomotor retardation, schizophrenia, and hallucinations. Toxic elements are everywhere, and without natural salt to regulate them, they build up in your body. For example, bromide is in many substances such as antibacterial agents for pools and hot tubs, fumigants for agriculture, pest and termite products, fire retardants, Gatorade, bakery products such as breads, cookies, cakes, and many prescription medications.
Additionally, in order for your thyroid hormones to function optimally, inactive T4 hormones need to be converted to active T3 hormones. When you are deficient in minerals and have adrenal exhaustion, T4 will not convert to T3 form. Unrefined salt provides the proper balance of minerals to ensure proper thyroid functions. It helps all your hormone systems work properly.

Is sea salt better for your health than table salt?
Sea salt and table salt have the same basic nutritional value — both mostly consist of two minerals — sodium and chloride. However, sea salt is often marketed as a more natural and healthy alternative. The real differences between sea salt and table salt are in their taste, texture and processing, not their chemical makeup.
Sea salt is produced through evaporation of seawater, usually with little processing, which leaves behind some trace minerals and elements depending on its water source. These insignificant amounts of minerals add flavor and color to sea salt, which also comes in a variety of coarseness levels. Table salt is mined from underground salt deposits. Table salt is more heavily processed to eliminate trace minerals and usually contains an additive to prevent clumping. Most table salt also has added iodine, an essential nutrient that appears naturally in minute amounts in sea salt.
By weight, sea salt and table salt contain about the same amount of sodium chloride. Your body needs only a couple hundred milligrams (mg) a day to stay healthy, but most people get far too much — mostly from sodium in processed foods. So regardless of which type of salt you prefer, keep sodium consumption between 1,500 and 2,300 mg of sodium a day if you're a healthy adult. People with high blood pressure, African-Americans and anyone middle-aged or older should aim for the low end of that range.

Processed Salt Epidemic
I truly believe that our consumption of refined, processed salt is one of the biggest health problems we face in the world right now. When refined salt is used for everything in our food supply, it creates havoc in our systems. Since salt is the most important element for transportation of fluids in our bodies, processed salt causes a total imbalance across the board. When we have too much refined salt without other minerals to balance it out, water quickly moves from the inside of cells to the outside through osmosis. This dehydrates the cell, causes chronic diseases such as cancer, and eventually leads to cell death. When we have unrefined natural salt with a plethora of minerals in our extra-cellular and intracellular fluid, water will not move out of cells to dehydrate them. You really need to supplement unrefined natural salt daily to ensure a perfect balance for your cellular system. An excerpt from Dr. Kim’s upcoming book 9 Secrets of Health

White Gold to White Poison
Salt used to be called “white gold” because it was so precious and natural. In recent years, however, salt has turned into “white poison.” It is now regularly processed to lengthen its shelf life and improve its appearance. Chemicals such as sulfuric acid and chlorine are used to remove minerals in natural salt. Then, high pressure and heat are used to evaporate water in the salt. This refining process disrupts the compound’s molecular structure and devitalizes salt. In addition, anti-caking agents such as sodium ferrocyanide, ammonium citrate, and aluminum silicate are used to prevent this refined salt from sticking together. These additives make the salt even more toxic!
In the 1920s, iodide was first added to refined salt to prevent goiter, a hypothyroid condition caused by lack of iodine in the diet. Iodizing salt was meant to stop epidemic spread of goiter, but it is not extremely effective. That’s because only 10 percent of the iodide added to iodized salt is available for absorption. Fluoride is also added to refined salt, supposedly to strengthen our teeth. However, both the iodine and fluoride components are aggressive and harmful. The final salt product is lifeless, devoid of any healthful minerals. It is 99.7 to 99.95 percent plain sodium chloride.Unrefined natural salt, on the other hand, is harvested without any processing. Salt collectors use only wind and sun to dry the salt. This process takes over a year. The final product contains more than 80 minerals, including sulfur, magnesium, potassium, calcium, silicon, iron, and many others. The best natural salts available are Redman’s Real Salt from Utah, Celtic Sea Salt from France, and Himalayan Crystal Salt from the Himalayan Mountains. An excerpt from Dr. Kim’s upcoming book 9 Secrets of Health

Functions of Salt

According to the National Academy of Sciences, the average adult needs 2300 mg of salt daily. That is equivalent to about one teaspoon of salt. Without the adequate amount of salt, nothing will work in your body. You won’t be able to think or move at all. Salt is needed for breathing, digestion, nutrient transport, oxygen dispersal, and nerve impulses. Salt also combines with potassium to regulate the acid-alkaline balance in your blood and helps control your heart beat. It is necessary for your metabolism to function, to promote detoxification, and for optimization of your hormonal, nervous, and immune systems. Salt even regulates the movement of water in and out of the cells through the process of osmosis, which controls all of your metabolic functions.
Salt is wonderful for the outside of your body too. Extremely salty water can help relieve many skin problems. For example, the Dead Sea is 10 times saltier than the ocean, and Utah’s Great Salt Lake is six times saltier than ocean. When you soak your body in these places, skin ailments like eczema and psoriasis will improve and sore muscles will be alleviated. Soaking in highly concentrated salt water will be relaxing, energizing, and rejuvenating too.
